The Obelline flatware set was created from the aspiration to renew the dining experience through design. The project emerged as part of a broader effort to modernize the company’s portfolio, exploring new formal possibilities for plastic-handled flatware, while establishing a contemporary design language that resonates with the habits and expectations of today’s consumers.
The purpose was to create a distinctive identity that would move away from the brand’s traditional flatware designs without altering the factory’s well-established production processes. The solution was found in one of the most iconic architectural forms in human history: the obelisk.
Present in different civilizations throughout millennia, the obelisk symbolizes elevation and formal purity. This reference was reinterpreted at a domestic scale through a design that explores elongated, smooth, and continuous lines. In this way, the monumentality of this architectural element is translated into an everyday gesture: holding a piece of flatware.
The result is an elegant and balanced silhouette that conveys visual lightness, precision, and refinement. The colors, inspired by contemporary trends observed at international design fairs, complement this formal expression and expand the possibilities of table composition, naturally harmonizing with porcelain and other tableware elements from the company.
More than individual pieces, Obelline was conceived as a complete family of flatware, designed to accompany every moment of a meal. The collection spans the entire dining experience, from dinner to dessert, creating visual continuity and harmony between form, material, and color.
In this way, the Obelline line transforms the inspiration of a millennia-old architectural symbol into an object present in everyday life. The project demonstrates how design can connect history, culture, and industry, bringing elegance, identity, and contemporaneity to one of life’s most universal rituals: sharing a meal.
