【Design Concept】
The thoughtful renovation can transform an aging house into a contemporary living space, with spatial relationships and circulation redefined to better support the residents’ needs. Hand-applied finishes and exposed structural beams show traces of time, standing in quiet contrast to the city’s neon-lit surroundings. A change in the environment encourages a sense of calm, allowing the mind to settle.

【Functionality】
The layout centers on functional efficiency and visual openness, balancing practical needs with intentional breathing room. Reversing the positions of the TV wall and sofa backdrop allows the main wall to extend toward the dining area, broadening its visual scale and enhancing the sense of openness within the shared living space.
The kitchen and sideboard are arranged along the walls. Stainless steel countertops, paired with under-counter storage, balance functionality with a clean visual look while maintaining the flow of natural light. The dining area at the center is the beating heart of the home — a place where families gather, chat, and share special moments.
The corridor beside the dining area acts as a circulation hub, connecting to the study room and master bedroom. The master bedroom is designed with two doors connecting back to the living room, creating a looped circulation that supports a fluid movement throughout the home. The glass sliding door defines the study room, maintaining its independence while allowing natural light to pass through, enhancing the overall openness and transparency.

【Innovation and Challenges】
With a palette grounded in low-saturation tones, gray hues, and natural wood textures, the key design challenge is to maintain brightness and depth within a calm, subdued color scheme.
The balcony offers a perfect opportunity for residents to embrace outdoor elegance, infusing the homes with natural light. The absence of walls in the open-plan layout allows sunlight to reach areas that might otherwise be shaded. Hidden linear lighting on the ceiling extends along circulation paths and architectural junctions, casting a bright and even glow that creates a layered and inviting atmosphere.
