AirPocket Rescue System is an underwater cave rescue system designed to locate trapped divers and support safer rescue route planning. The system consists of two coordinated devices: AirPocket Trace for divers and EchoTrace for rescue teams, creating a recorded, traceable, and recoverable life path inside complex underwater caves.
AirPocket Trace enters the cave with the diver and records an approximate route model during the dive. Using a compact scanning sonar, IMU, depth sensor, and electronic compass, it captures passage contours, depth changes, and movement paths, then compresses this data into a node-based route model that can be understood by rescuers.
When a diver becomes trapped in an air pocket, AirPocket Trace switches to survival marking mode and functions as an underwater acoustic distress beacon. It transmits the device ID, life status data, and a summarized return path. EchoTrace receives the signal and displays direction, distance, diver status, and the recorded route, helping rescue teams gradually identify the trapped air chamber and plan a safer rescue approach.
By transforming the diver’s entry route into a rescue-readable life path, AirPocket Rescue System improves the speed, accuracy, and safety of underwater cave rescue operations.
