In 2025, Jiaoxi Hot Spring Lantern Festivai

Using light as the medium and hot springs as the essence, this project constructs a fluid nocturnal landscape in Jiaoxi’s winter. From the entrance gateway and public plazas to corridor experiences and immersive interactive zones, the entire spatial narrative is orchestrated through the dynamic language of “dance,” guiding both perception and movement.
Elements such as flowing springs, blossoming flowers, swimming fish, and shimmering starlight are translated into a kinetic vocabulary of light. Each space becomes a performative stage where illumination rises and fades, colors pulse and rest, forming a layered visual rhythm and embodied experience.
Under the theme Symphony of Springs in Bloom, the 2025 Jiaoxi Hot Spring Light Festival integrates local natural and cultural elements into a multi-sensory lightscape. Commissioned by the Jiaoxi Township Office, the project features four primary zones: Hot Spring Plaza, Welcome Plaza, Landscape Plaza, and Waterscape Plaza, transforming the night into a vibrant and romantic environment.
The 5-meter-tall main installation symbolizes the “spring” as a life-giving force, expressed through a baroque-inspired visual language of elegance and abundance. The amaryllis motif represents romance and vitality, while flowing light compositions create a dazzling visual centerpiece.
Extending along the urban streetscape, the lighting design constructs layered immersive experiences:
• Spring Flow Gallery features dynamic star lights and fish-shaped luminaires forming aquatic light corridors
• Oceanic Light Dance combines floating jellyfish installations with marine projections
• Moonlit Reverie and Chromatic Weaving create tranquil, romantic atmospheres through layered lighting and gradient spheres
Additional installations, including a Pegasus lantern symbolizing protection and blessings, and Violet Vessel of Wishes in Sanmin Wetlands, express themes of life, ecology, and poetic imagination. Interactive zones such as Childhood Welcoming Lights evoke nostalgia and strengthen the emotional connection between people and place.
The overall lighting environment utilizes dual-tone illumination to create soft, flowing chromatic waves across the streetscape, guiding both pedestrian and vehicular movement like a symphony of light. Major intersections feature thematic overhead installations integrating cultural motifs and dynamic light structures.
The result is a cohesive, immersive light festival that harmonizes culture, nature, and emotion into a unified spatial experience.
