Anáhuac LABS is a high-engineering architectural platform conceived to integrate specialized laboratories, flexible classrooms, and collaborative workspaces into a single, dynamic environment where experimentation, prototyping, research, and industry-linked projects converge. Designed under principles of sustainability, adaptability, and operational efficiency, the project transcends the conventional academic building to operate as a true Interface of Innovation in Mexico—an ecosystem that intentionally connects academia, industry, and talent.
With a total area of 7,805.26 m², the building results from the strategic transformation of an existing 1960s structure (4,449 m²) combined with a new expansion volume (3,356.26 m²), executed through a carefully phased construction process. One of the project’s central challenges was to integrate the preexisting structure with a forward-looking architectural addition. From the controlled dismantling that revealed and preserved the original framework to excavation, soil improvement, and new foundation systems, the intervention establishes a dialogue between continuity and evolution, creating a building designed for long-term adaptability.
The façade operates as an active environmental and spatial system rather than a passive boundary. Developed through solar radiation simulations, the envelope incorporates high-performance solutions, including a double-glazed curtain wall with low thermal transmittance, large-format porcelain cladding, and a kinetic façade composed of perforated aluminum panels. These elements function as solar filters while reinforcing the building’s technological identity, reducing thermal loads, improving interior comfort, and optimizing natural daylight. Complementary low-consumption LED lighting further minimizes energy demand and heat emission.
New architectural volumes wrap and complement the original structure, shaping both the external image and the interior spatial experience. Double-height areas, voids, terraces, and interaction zones foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. Inside, a flexible system based on movable partitions and open service trays allows continuous reconfiguration of 33 laboratories and classrooms, ensuring operational efficiency and long-term relevance.
Anáhuac LABS ultimately positions architecture as an enabler of talent—an adaptive, forward-looking infrastructure where education, innovation, and industry converge to transform knowledge into applied solutions and global competitiveness.
