AMOW, an original IP created and designed by FREES, is a silent street performance artist who communicates not through language, but through piercing, soulful eyes. Sometimes appearing as a lone wanderer and other times as a collective, AMOW observes human culture, music, and art with a surrealist lens. Despite a vast cosmic perspective, AMOW often resides within a focused, miniature inner world.
Upon arriving on Earth, AMOW discovered two powerful "magics" capable of dissolving barriers between strangers: Music and Spicy Grilled Fish. Fascinated by how rhythm makes emotions flow and how heat unites people at a table, AMOW integrated celestial inspiration with Earthly spices to create the "Diao Mao Secret Recipe"
#Design Transformation
In this integration, the FREES design team transformed the cool, avant-garde AMOW into the "Diao Mao Master Chef." The character’s signature non-verbal stoicism is now channeled into culinary craftsmanship. The visual identity utilizes a high-contrast palette of Black, White, and Red, reflecting both the intensity of spicy Sichuan peppercorns and the sleek aesthetic of modern pop art.
Key visual elements include:
• The Chef’s Attire: A professional white coat paired with a red apron featuring a bold fish-bone totem, symbolizing the brand’s core product.
• Multisensory Performer : Beyond a mere visual icon, AMOW is a versatile performer and music enthusiast. The headphones signify his dual identity as a "Culinary Artist" and a "Music Performer." Designed to transcend 2D/3D imagery, he manifests as a live mascot performer capable of engaging in musical showcases and interactive entertainment.
• 3D Evolution: The transition from 2D character sheets to high-fidelity 3D modeling brings a tactile, premium quality to the brand, making the mascot an iconic presence in both digital media and physical space.
#Brand Philosophy
Through the slogan "Music On. Fish On. Party On!", the project demonstrates how a character IP can bridge the gap between "Fine Art" and "F&B Culture." FREES has successfully turned a meal into a social performance, proving that with the right music and the perfect grilled fish, any stranger can become a friend.
