This project entails the renovation of an old house into a commercial space featuring a yakiniku restaurant and bar. The design preserves the historical elements of the original residence while integrating industrial materials and Japanese-inspired warmth. A Japanese-style garden entrance and outdoor pathway seamlessly connect the two main areas: the yakiniku grill and the bar, enhancing the overall experience. This space reflects the brand's enduring spirit, inviting guests to appreciate the essence of time and engage in meaningful dining and social interactions.
The design prioritizes customer experience, transforming the brand ethos into a contemporary environment. An entrance garden serves as a tranquil urban oasis, inviting guests to explore the interior, unwind, and engage with the ambiance. The dual-core layout fosters a dynamic interaction between day and night, as well as between movement and stillness. Japanese-inspired warmth is reflected in the material details, highlighting the owner's marketplace roots. This approach strengthens emotional connections and fosters meaningful interactions between the brand and its customers.
The outdoor landscaping draws inspiration from Japanese gardens and kare-sansui (dry landscape) aesthetics, seamlessly integrating natural elements into the urban environment. Both storefronts feature interior walls that combine concrete with red brick, emphasizing the rugged beauty of layered materials. The yakiniku area showcases an industrial design with a soaring sloped roof and exposed wooden beams, while the bar section reflects modern sophistication through stainless steel facades and expansive glass panels. The diverse use of materials—metal, ironwork, and wood—enhances the spatial experience, creating a dynamic and expressive atmosphere.
The space is expertly designed to accommodate dining, socializing, and relaxation. An outdoor pathway efficiently connects all areas, while a concrete bar counter in the barbecue zone allows customers to observe chefs grilling, fostering an interactive experience. Comfortable sofa seating serves as a dedicated lounge area for regular patrons, enhancing their sense of belonging. The dimly lit bar area offers an inviting atmosphere for meaningful conversations. Furthermore, the kitchen's grill workstation and organized storage system significantly improve operational efficiency, ensuring seamless and safe back-of-house operations.
